Anyone who knows me in real life would agree that me walking a 5K was about as likely as pigs flying……well those pigs better grow wings.
Mr. Wonderful, my cousin and I ignored the rain and had a BLAST. I was so proud of Mr. Wonderful he ran/walked it in 42 minutes, I didn’t do so well. I NEVER believed I could finish it so I’m thrilled that I accomplished this. I have bought a new pair of running shoes since I wore a pair of shoes that was 11 years old.
My cousin Belinda convinced me to do “The Walk” in memory of Baby James, I didn’t notice until I started this post that our number was 28309 and 28310, Baby James birthday is 2/28……if you read my blog you know that after I was “convinced” to do “The Walk” I went to church that evening and Pastor Brian did a sermon on “Running The Race”. I had that bible verse on my hand 1 Cor. 9:24-27 and I will admit I looked at it more then once.
It’s been a long time since I’ve felt such a feeling of accomplishment. The next day every bit of my body ached, I had blisters the size of Texas, but I was still so proud of myself and appreciated my cousin Belinda for sticking it out with me. I knew Belinda was itching to take off running, but she stayed right with me and cheered me on. We will do it again!!!
I was recently told by someone that I need to live a little, I’m too uptight and this was the beginning of “living” a little. This weekend I’m going camping, well not really camping since we are staying in a very nice cabin and ordering pizza for dinner. I just like saying, “I’m going camping.”
