“The Happy Place”

Edit…..A month of Christmas crafting has “The Happy Place” looking like a “Not So Happy Place” so I’m going to link up this older post to

I found an awesome blog this week and she has a Saturday Blog Party ever Saturday…LOVE IT!

Funky Junk's Saturday Nite Special

This post is a repost and one of the reasons I’m reposting it is I would love some ideas on my dresser, I have become obsessed with “changing” the dresser.  I want to distress it and add either vinyl or stencils of some kind.  Any suggestions?

I woke up today and wanted to continue reading the book I started last night, but I forced myself to clean “The Happy Place”…….At 10 a.m. it looked like this…..

Fast forward four hours and at 2:oo p.m. it looks like this…..

I love this space when it’s clean and I call it “The Happy Place” because I am truly my happiest when I’m in this room.

We added the vinyl today and now I’m convinced that my dresser needs something…..

I am thinking I could number the drawers, I could label them or I could put some random daisies down the drawers….what do you think…oh yeah and I could take Mr. Wonderful’s advice and leave well enough alone….what’s the fun in that?

I love the “punch holder” and the cork board is just a cheap cork board spray painted and covered with wrapping paper.

This was a thrift store find, I call it an ink pad holder I’m sure a few years ago I called it a cassette tape holder.

Don’t you love the Diet Coke cup?  Mr. Wonderful wanted me to stay focused so he went and got me some “fuel”.  I love the “spinner thingy” it holds so much and keeps things I use a lot handy.  See the black frame?  That’s a birthday list that my Daddy and I found at my grandmother’s….I have this room crammed full of things that I love and cherish….remember “The Happy Place”?

Speaking of things I love…….The Baby Girl’s artwork!

I moved “The Happy Place” this year upstairs, it’s a much smaller space then I had in the basement…..BUT has a lot more personality!  I would love to see other “Happy Places”!

I love when I kill two birds with one stone, I have a clean and organized happy place and a great Metamorphosis Monday post…..

The dresser is SO cute! if I had the itch to change something about it I would either decoupage some cute scrap papers onto the drawers in cute shapes maybe? or i would search hi and lo till i found the PERFECT blingy little handles for the front hardware. it is pretty cute as is though!
looks like an amazing little happy place! happy crafting today!

Great job! Doesn’t it just make you feel so much better?

  11. I love your happy place! My favorite color is actually red. Love love your curtains. You would think I would put red in my creative space but I have it added in so many places of my living space that I just thought I needed something different, and of course there was that wall paper boarder I just could not do without. NO red there. The dresser is pretty but that is your space to go over the top if you want to. My hubby the same way. Always says enough is enough.

Love it especially the name of your room. I think I would put daisies on your dresser to tie in your happy place sign.

You are so lucky to have a “Happy Place”, it looks great. I would love to have a craft room, I might even choose that over a jucuzzi tub …:)

  25. I love that you call it The Happy Place! You have a lot of great organizing ideas here. Rreally like the idea of using the shoe storage on the back of the door for craft supplies, too. Thanks for linking up to the party. Happy New Year!

I love your Happy Place! You did a great job with it. I almost bought one of those old cassette tape holders for my ink pads too.

I love what you’ve done and that dresser is adorable as is, but I know what you mean by the numbering. I have seen that done and I think it is cute. Perhaps the daisies would be more original since I’ve seen those numbers in bloggy land many times already? 🙂 I just redid a dresser too and I’m going to post it. It is in my sewingroom rather than my craftroom, but they are side-by-side and I’m working on both rooms.
I’ll get back to you when I post it.

  29. Tami says:

BTW…. I have as sign on the door of my craftroom that says, “My Happy Place”!

I love how the top three dresser drawers are “smiling” … the first thing I saw was two eyes and a mouth. 🙂
