wow where does the time go? I woke up today and thought about the past 18 years and wondered how 18 years could possibly go that fast, unbelievable. I don’t even know where to begin, how do I put into words what a blessing Shane has been to me. He was (notice I say was) a Mama’s Boy, everyone knew it but Shane and I didn’t care. I remember him getting on the bus for kindergarten, and I was scared to death but he had the routine down, “He said Mama don’t worry I’m just looking for Curious George.” (I still have the Curious George cutout with his name on it from kindergarten) He jumped on the bus and I stood there crying looking like a fool he never even looked over when the bus drove away, I should have known then that my life was changing and that being social would be a huge part of who Shane Thomas Renneker would become. For awhile things went along pretty easy, he still kissed me when he got out of the car in middle school. I hear all the time how polite he is, I don’t see that side of him any longer because he thinks I’m the uncoolest person on earth. Maybe he forgets that when he refused to wear jeans, wore nylon running pants they had to be black for two solid years and then the next two years would only wear khakis, I still thought he was cool. Shane is as loyal as they come, if you have a secret Shane is the person to share it with. I keep thinking that when he gets done being a teenager he’ll become my buddy again and I sure hope so because I miss him! Here are a few of my favorite pics of “my boy”….HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHANERS! Lena named Shane, Tom wanted him to be Thomas Joseph Renneker III and call him T.J., I hated that so while he was away in Korea I brainwashed Lena to call him Baby Shane and when she walked in the hospital to meet him she grabbed ahold of his little foot and said, “Hi Baby Shane.” The birth certificate was signed before Tom could change his mind, I’m not sure Tom Senior ever forgave me.
My all time favorite picture of Shane, my only regret was that I didn’t take his shoes off. I think he was 6 months old here.
Alyssa loves Shane! The days when Shane takes her and they do stuff together she feels so cool. I hope that as they get older Shane will always look out for her!
